At Havenly, we used an in-house space planning software to create layouts for our designs. I was able to quickly learn the space-planning software and create functional layouts for my clients. As e-designers we adhered to a space planning rubric that laid out how much space should be left for a walkway, how much space should be between a sofa and coffee table, how much space should be between a chair seat and the bottom of a table, etc. This is a rubric I have continued to use in design jobs since.
